EMDR is a treatment to provide relief from traumatic memories.
When something happens that causes you to experience intense pain or fear, it is stored differently in the brain than the memory of what you had for lunch yesterday.
Traumatic memories that occurred in childhood have a stronger impact than traumatic memories as an adult because they were formed while the brain was still developing.
